Vacation Time: World's Longest Yard Sale, Here We Come!

We're going to check off something on our bucket list as Uncle and Auntie Atom take a road trip along the route of the World's Longest Yard Sale the first week of August.  We'll be picking up the trail around Chattanooga, Tennessee and working our way north at least to Lexington, Kentucky.

I'm really looking forward to this, and my plan is to upload photos from my iPhone as much as possible.

Has anyone figured out the best way to do remote blog posts?  I'm creating a special Flickr folder and thinking that I'll link to it from a blog post.  Are there better alternatives?  Tumblr?  Something else?

  1. Oh man, you are so lucky! This and Brimfield always drop on the first week of the month...the only days I CAN'T take off from work! It'll remain on Mr. Modtomic's bucket list. My mom went a few years ago and made t-shirts that showed an antique hot rod truck full of vintage finds and the words "I survived the 450 mile yard sale!" on it. I gotta find that t-shirt, maybe I'll get lucky one of these years and have an opportunity to wear it on the road at the I-127 corridor sale. Don't rub it in too much, but have fun!

  2. Y'all have a great time! We went a few years ago and it was a blast. Hotter than the face of the sun but lots of fun. Take tons and tons of water and maybe a little cooler for ice and drinks to keep in the car. Oh, and sunblock. And lots of small change to dicker with. Can't wait to see what you get!

  3. It's going to be a hot one this year! When I went a couple of years ago we blogged from our hotel room in the evenings, took the laptop along.

  4. Ooh uncle, please tell us all about it!! I can't help you with the remote posting, but I'm pretty sure you can update your blog from an iphone if you have one.
In Australia we have nothing like these yard sale marathons, I'm hoping to visit and attend one, one day, please tell me as many details as you can!

  5. When I was in the area last year I was a couple days too early but fortunately a few vendors were setting up early and I found some great stuff. I can only imagine my frenzy if I attended during the main event. Have fun!

  6. I've always wanted to visit the world's largest yard sale but have never been able to make it out there. Look forward to hearing about some of the visitor's finds.
